Climate Risk Scores - Online Tool Attaches Climate Risk Scores to Canadian Listings
A new tool has been introduced in Canada that attaches climate risk scores to real estate listings, enabling prospective buyers to understand how climate change will affect their properties. The tool is a partnership between the US-based online real estate climate risk caculator, ClimateCheck, and the Montreal-based platform, Local Logic. The climate risk scores are already live on Royal LePage listings and are soon to be introduced on Sotheby's International Realty Canada and REW.ca listings, according to May Warren, a housing reporter for the Toronto Star.
The aim of the tool is to raise awareness of climate risks and encourage homeowners to take steps to mitigate those risks, such as through landscaping work.
As a real estate agent, it is exciting to see the industry take such proactive steps towards addressing climate change risks, and I look forward to this tool being made more widely available across Canada.
